RCC Arena

Place of our victories
The RCC Arena multifunctional sports complex is currently under construction in the north-west of Chelyabinsk - the most densely populated area of the city. RCC Arena and its associated facilities will become part of the Sports City
The construction of the sports complex is one of the region’s major investment projects.

The five-storey building with an area of over 48,000 sq. m. will become the main sports arena for team sports and martial arts in the Chelyabinsk region. The RCC Arena will be able to host both international competitions in front of 5,000 fans and mass events for 8,000 spectators. The project includes the creation of a fitness club, food court areas and own medical centre, which will be available to both athletes and city residents.

Students from regional sports schools will be able to train at the RCC Arena. Training locations for 10 sports — boxing, kickboxing, combat sambo, Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, freestyle wrestling, MMA, basketball, volleyball, and parachuting — will be organised.

Main arena

The main feature of the future sports complex will be the main arena, which will host sporting and cultural events. Thanks to its special design, the venue can be transformed into two separate areas depending on the event scenario. Two LED cubes will be located under the roof of the main arena; this will be the first time of applying this feature in sports facilities in Russia.

Small arena

The small arena that can accommodate up to 500 spectators will enable sports schools to hold training sessions and teams with a small number of fans to play home matches in Russian championships. Representatives of regional federations of various sports will have more opportunities to hold their events.

Russia’s first LED media facade

The experience of large stadiums and arenas in Russia and around the world was systematised to build the RCC Arena. Russia’s first LED media façade will be installed above the central entrance; city residents will be able to watch live broadcasts of sporting events while standing on the street.

The key feature of this façade element is its combination of strength and lightness, as well as its high aesthetic and technical qualities. When the screen is turned off, it looks like a normal stained-glass window, preserving the neat appearance of the building. When it’s on, it creates the effect of an image appearing directly on the glass.

In addition, the façade will automatically adjust the brightness of the image depending on the time of day and weather conditions. This solves the problem of excessive brightness of city screens, which can blind drivers and disturb residents of nearby houses.

On the other sides of the arena, there will be two functional 3D media screens that will allow animations to be displayed, creating a sense of presence.

The first wind tunnel for professional skydiving in the Urals Federal District

The RCC Arena will feature a unique facility for the Urals Federal District: a wind tunnel for professional skydiving. The chamber will be 20 m high with the diameter of almost 5 m. There is nothing like it in the entire Ural region. The construction of the wind tunnel will open a new chapter in the development of parachuting in the Chelyabinsk Region.
