The Russian Copper Company (RCC) has won the 2017 Performance Excellence: Ural and Siberia Award. The awards ceremony took place January 26, 2018, in Tyumen, backed by the Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in the Urals Federal District.
The Social Project of the Year Prize was awarded for a socially oriented project or effective social work in the Urals and Siberia in 2017.
The agreement on the development of Karabash Township was signed between the government of Chelyabinsk Region, the municipality and RCC in February 2017 at the Russian Investment Forum Sochi 2017. The document lays plans for projects to develop social infrastructure and improve the quality of life in the town and its environs. To this end, a development program to run through 2021 has been developed. It includes campaigns to create a favorable and comfortable urban environment, improve infrastructure and support cultural education and public sports.
Co-financed investment in the activities that will be part of the Karabash Township development program is estimated at RUB 3 billion. The five-year plan features a new low-rise residential development named Zolotaya Gorka, newly built and repaired roads and upgraded water supply, sewer systems, gas lines and other utilities. There are renovation plans for a host of socially valuable facilities and construction plans for new ones – a shopping mall and entertainment center, a kindergarten, etc. In addition, it calls for the development of leisure and recreational areas in Karabash, including land improvement activities on the central square and on the banks of the town pond.
The first major project implemented in Karabash under the agreement was the new Metallurg multifunctional sports facility. Its grand opening ceremony was held in September 2017. It was attended by Chelyabinsk Region Governor Boris Dubrovsky and RCC chairman of the board of directors Igor Altushkin. In December 2017, RCC set the balling rolling with a modern shopping mall and entertainment center project in Karabash.
