The development strategy of the Kazakhstan division of Russian Copper Company has been presented to Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
As part of the development of Kazakhstan's mining and metallurgical complex, RCC is currently building a mine at the Vesenne-Aralchinsky deposit. Its annual capacity will total 500,000 tons of copper-zinc ore. In the future, the company is planning to develop the Kundyzdy and Limannoye deposits (their overall production capacity will be 4 million tons of copper-zinc ore per year).
Aktubinsk Copper Company (ACC) is already actively using advanced machinery of world producers in its operations. Thus, in 2015, ACC purchased additional copper-zinc ore concentration equipment that made it possible to increase copper and zinc extraction up to 90% and 80%, respectively.
The total investment of RCC made in its Kazakhstan division since the company started operating in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2004 (including the above mentioned projects) can reach around US$1 billion. In addition, the company will create up to 1,500 new jobs, and the technological modernization of the existing plants will not involve any staff downsizing.
At a meeting on the development of the Aktobe agglomeration and Kazakhstan's mining and metallurgical complex RCC presented the development strategy for the region to Prime Minister of the Republic Bakytzhan Sagintayev. It includes the introduction of advanced ore concentration technologies, product quality improvement and enhancement of environmental safety of operations. Mr. Sagintayev stressed the importance of co-operation between the state and the private sector in developing the Kazakhstan mining and metallurgical complex. The Republic’s authorities will continue to support mining enterprises. In particular, they intend to consider lowering the mineral tax rate for the development of deposits with deep-seated ore bodies.
