KMEZ shipped the first batch of unique copper foil to the customer

High-tech material obtained at a new, unique production facility in Russia

Kyshtym Copper Electrolytic Plant (KMEZ JSC, Kyshtym, Chelyabinsk Region, part of the Russian Copper Company Group) sent the first batch of commercial electrolytic foil to the consumer. The products were manufactured at the facilities of the new electrolytic copper foil workshop at KMEZ. A batch of 50 micron thick foil with anti-corrosion coating will be used by the Russian plant for the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries. The company has already received a starting supply from the Chelyabinsk region. Gradually, the South Ural foil will completely replace the import of material for the needs of Russian high-tech enterprises.

In the new copper foil electrolysis shop at KMEZ, the commissioning is underway. The construction of the production began in 2018, the first product samples were received in 2020. The production line of the shop allows to produce the foil of the most demanded types - with a thickness of 9 to 105 microns according to international standards IPC-4562. These products are used in the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries, as well as printed circuit boards for electronics and instrumentation - from smartphones and household appliances to aircraft construction.

The capacity of the workshop is 1.2 thousand tons of foil per year. This volume is sufficient to fully meet the needs of domestic manufacturers of high-tech electronics, as well as to supply foil abroad. The workshop is equipped with the most modern equipment from leading manufacturers from Europe and Asia. Investments in the project exceed 3 billion rubles.
