The head of the Russian Copper Company received a distinction for contribution to the development of boxing.
Igor Altushkin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RCC, received an acknowledgement from the Russian Boxing Federation (RBF). Umar Kremlyov, Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation, gave the distinction to Mr. Altushkin on September 7, 2018, at an official ceremony to mark the opening of the Sports and Recreation Center of the Russian Copper Company (SRC RCC) in Korkino (Chelyabinsk Region). "We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your significant contribution to the development of boxing on behalf of the Russian Boxing Federation. Thanks to your efforts, we see progress and development in boxing, and how successful Russian athletes are," said Umar Kremlyov in his address.
In August 2018, Chairman of the Eurasian Boxing Parliament Mikhail Denisov presented Igor Altushkin with the Edmund Lipinski Good Fellow Award for contribution to the development of professional boxing. The Edmund Lipinski Good Fellow Award is the highest award in Russian professional boxing named after Edmund Lipinski, an eminent coach, supervisor and boxing referee who was the founding father of professional boxing in the USSR and Russia, and the vice-president of the WBC.
Igor Altushkin has supported popular and professional sports for many years. The development of combat sports, including professional boxing and MMA, is a priority area. In 2016, Igor Altushkin founded RCC Boxing Promotions to train a new generation of professional boxers and MMA fighters. Today, RCC Boxing Promotions supports over 70 professional boxers and MMA fighters in various weight classes from Russia and other countries. In the past years, RCC Boxing Promotions has organized over 30 tournaments of various levels, including title bouts of the world's boxing and MMA stars such as Sergey Kovalev, Alexander Povetkin, Denis Lebedev and Alexander Emelianenko.
The professional community praised the company's achievements. RCC Boxing Promotions was given the National Star Boxing Award in the Discovery of the Year (2016) and the Best Promotion Company of the Year (2017) categories. RCC Boxing Promotions and Igor Altushkin himself are actively promoting a healthy lifestyle among young people. To achieve this, masterclasses of professional fighters of RCC Boxing Promotions and the world's boxing stars Mike Tyson, Konstantin Tszyu and Roy Jones are held in the cities in the Urals on a regular basis.
In 2018, Igor Altushkin opened the RCC Combat Sports Academy in Yekaterinburg, which is the first of its kind in Russia. The six-story building houses a gym and halls for boxing, Muay Thai, Greco-Roman wrestling, MMA, karate and judo. Overall, there are sports clubs for more than ten types of martial arts in the Academy. The Academy has its own ring with a grandstand, where competitions involving athletes from the Urals are held on a regular basis. Boys and girls train under the supervision of highly qualified coaches who are champions in their sports. Future champions are inspired to achieve more by young boxing and MMA stars from the Urals supported by RCC Boxing Promotions, for whom the RCC Combat Sports Academy has become the main training ground.
RCC opened the sports and recreation center on September 7, 2018, and the ceremony was attended by the Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky and stars of the International Boxing Hall of Fame: the undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and Konstantin Tszyu, the two-time champion of Europe and absolute world champion (IBF, WBA and WBS). Umar Kremlyov, Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation, and the "Siberian Rocky", WBO World Boxing Champion Ruslan Provodnikov also joined them in Korkino.
