Vice President for Production Control and Investment
Born in 1961 in the town of Sysert, Sverdlovsk Region. Graduated with honours from the Ural Polytechnic Institute as a specialist in the metallurgy of heavy nonferrous metals (1983), and from the Orenburg Polytechnic Institute with a degree in patenting (1987).
Yury Korol began his career in 1983 at the Yuzhuralnikel Plant in the city of Orsk, Orenburg Region, where he rose through the ranks from blower to 1st deputy head of a smelter shop. In 1989, he was appointedChief Engineering Officer at the Mednogorsk Copper-Sulphur Plantin Orenburg Region. The same year, he became the CEO of the plant, which he headed until 2000. As the CEO of the town’s dominant company and an elected member of Mednogorsk’s town council, Korol was actively involved in managing local services and addressing social problems.
In 1999, he was elected as a member of Orenburg Regional Legislative Assembly.
In 2001-2002, Korol worked as an assistant specialist at the Ural Aluminium Plant and SUAL-Kremniy Plant in Sverdlovsk Region (both owned by RUSAL).
In 2002, he joined the Kolskaya Mining and Smelting Company (a subsidiary of Nornickel) as Deputy Chief Engineering Officer for Investment and Reconstruction, simultaneously serving as CEO of Pechengastroy Group.
In 2004-2005, Korol worked as Chief Metallurgist of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company. Later, in 2007, he worked as a non-ferrous and precious metals adviser at Renova Group, where he managed technical, organizational and financial audits of the Group’s facilities in Russia and abroad.
Yury Korol has been with RCC since 2007. As Head of Capital Construction, the authorized representative of the shareholders and adviser to the Chairman of the Board, he has been responsible for capital construction projects, investment, and technical, organizational and financial audits of RCC facilities.
Since 2010, Yury Korol has overseen these issues as Vice President for Production Control and Investment.
